The AMFHR is grassroots organization to serve the hungry and homeless with compassion, dignity,and respect without any discrimination of color, race, gender or religion.
With the help of local Long Island mosques and grassroots Muslim volunteers American Muslim Hunger Relief is established, which is all Muslims’ run and Muslims’ based organization. AMHR is planning to serve meals to under privilege people of Long Island community on Tuesday August 16th 2011 at 11:00am and invites the Muslim community to join us as volunteers to fulfill obligation of faith during the month of Ramadan by taking care of these less fortunate neighbors.
When: Aug 16, Tues – 8:30am to 1:30pm
Where: Mary Brenan Inn Soup Kitchen, 100 Madison Avenue, Hempstead, NY 11550
Time: Full Shift: 8:30am to 1:30pm Lunch Prep in kitchen Shift: 8:30 am to 11:00am, Lunch Serve Shift: 11:00am to 1:00pm , Clean up shift: 12:30pm to 1:30pm
The Ramadan fast is also intended to foster compassion for those who are less fortunate than oneself. Feeling thirsty or hungry throughout the day is a very real and personal reminder of those who are suffering daily from food scarcity - whether they are starving half way across the world in Africa or just around the corner in Hempstead Long Island. For volunteer to join in event please come to MBI at 8:30am for registration.
